Community Programme – Peer Support

The community activity programme is set up to enable people to participate in social and educational activities using community and in-house resources. In turn promoting good mental health in order to encourage empowerment and independence amongst people who we work with.

We offer peer support training for our members to become volunteers at the groups; our peer support volunteers are invaluable and a great support to the work we do. We regularly evaluate the service we offer by recording feedback from our members and volunteers.

Become a Peer Mentor Volunteer with Swindon Mind

We are currently looking to expand our team of Peer Mentor Volunteers to support Swindon Mind members in the community with things like travel, accessing activities, attending appointments, or simply being a friendly ear for someone by listening.

Volunteers should have some personal lived experience of mental health difficulties, and be ready to be there for people who are going through their recovery, often on a one-to-one basis.

Full training, supervision and support is available to those who become a peer mentor.
